  • Family and Couples' Therapy

Healthy, supportive relationships are essential to our well-being. Yet many families and couples have difficulties with communication, handling conflicts, overcoming a stressful event, or navigating life transitions.

Dr. Phillips takes an active approach to couples and family therapy, starting with collaborative goal-setting and an assessment of current strengths and challenges. Therapy includes a balance of identifying and honoring emotional experiences, while also enhancing skills for communication, validation, collaborative problem-solving, and navigating conflict.

Dr. Phillips is trained in Gottman’s Couples Therapy (Level 2), including advanced training in treating trauma and infidelity.

  • Parent Support and Consultation

Being a parent or caregiver is difficult and can be particularly stressful if you are caring for a child, adolescent, or young adult who has behavioral or mental health challenges.

Dr. Phillips collaborates with caregivers to identify current needs and goals, and tailor interventions accordingly. She draws from evidence-based approaches including parent management training to improve the caregiver-youth relationship and increase caregivers’ ability to respond effectively in challenging situations. Throughout, Dr. Phillips focuses on parents’ own life experiences, culture, and current context to support well-being and align interventions with values and goals.

She also provides a structured intervention to teach parents skills and strategies for effective collaboration with schools.

  • Executive Functioning Coaching

Executive functioning skills help you stay organized, focused, and in control to get things done. They include managing time, staying on task, adapting to changes, and following through with goals. For individuals with ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and/or mental health challenges, executive functioning skills can be a struggle.

Dr. Phillips provides EF coaching to adolescents and adults, with a focus on concrete skill-building to enhance functioning in daily life. This type of intervention tends to be short-term, structured, and focused on the client’s specific goals.
